Last spring/summer I had a problem with JD chewing his feet after playing outside. We have a large number of blackberry bushes surrounding the field where we live. It seemed to happen after he'd chase his ball into them (mommy doesn't always have the greatest aim :eek.
We did the vet thing when it got bad. Changed diet to TOTW Salmon which really helped. And of course, once the blackberry bushes were gone (fortunately the county came thru and cut them all back) the itching stopped.
My question is this: Does anyone know of any prevention that might help this year? I've heard that local honey added to the diet might. Not sure if I understand exactly why. I'm assuming that it might have something to do with building up their tolerance (that's not the word I'm looking for but it's 5am here and my brain is a bit foggy) using local pollen.
Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks
BTW - after reading the thread on nutrition I'll be adding Omega 3's and Vit E to his diet as soon as I get home

Dana, if you board-search (the upper RIGHT search function rather than upper left) using the term antihistamine, and "search all forums," and maybe my name, and expand the search for a couple years, you will find not just antihistamines but the whole topic of first steps to take for a dog with seasonal allergies.
It's a dog-training day, but if you bump this later and have not found those threads, I'll dig them up. There are several.
