Last Valentine’s Day Bob won a radio contest - an overnight package at one of the more exclusive motels in town. In their honeymoon suite, complete with Jacuzzi in living room, dinner at their 5 star restaurant and a 50.00 certificate for appy’s and drinks in the bar.
It’s still unused and will be expiring here shortly. And because it was free, I really can’t justify the evening away from the pups. He understands and kinda feels the same way. I just don’t think I’d enjoy myself. I told him a cabin in the woods with a natural hot spring would be my idea of a dream night out – boys included of course.

Yeah, way up there on the “crazy dog lady” list.
I'm so glad to know I'm in such good company on the "crazy dog lady" list! <insert happy dance>

See I said you weren't weird.
Next week I'm dog / home sitting for a friends two gsds - we've been spending weeks making sure that all three dogs are used to each other in closed spaces (made worse by the fact that her male is dog aggro). So me and the boy are off to live in London for 10 days but I would never have left him.
I used to house/dog sit for my best friend before I moved to a different state (he lives in CA). There was a time I'd have his 2 Rotties, 2 Golden Retrievers and my Springer Spaniel.
Me and roughly 450#'s of dogs who fortunately, were all trained to the same commands. I could take all 5 of them anywhere - on or off leash.
I'm still known to that certain circle of friends as "the Dog Lady". Seems I was the only one crazy enough to go stay with them all :-)
I've never liked leaving my kids behind. Guess I've just gone from:
I miss mine even when I'm at work. When I went to WEG I couldn't bear the thought of not having my crazy puppy with me so I brought my sister along as pupsitter. When I have no choice and have to leave them I always tell the kennel or barn to tell me that they refused to eat and just moped all day because sadly I've discovered they CAN live without me.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.
