If you are in So Cal I wouldn't worry about the temperatures. I've been taking my dogs hiking and letting them swim in the "river" (where I come from we'd call it a creek LOL) all "winter" long. Even my older dog who does have some arthritis. We've also done some trips to Fiesta Island. The pool might seem a little cold for us to be hopping into, but it should be fine for Capone, especially if he's working out.
Good Point!! I should have thought this also, as my dog has been in my creek this week in 11 degree temps, Luv's It!!
Appointment is at 4pm for me to talk to the vet and hopefully get new x-rays. I am so nervous. I don't know why, but I am. Wish me luck lol I think I am changing vets after this to one that was recommended by another member here. It is a little bit of a drive for me but I think it will be worth it to have a vet who is pro raw and recommended to me. So that helps a little to be less worried about offending them. I just don't want them to take it out on Capone if they get annoyed that I am requesting a re do. Paranoid.
See if they will let you help position Capone for the film, it can probably be shot w/o anaesthesia if Capone's as sweet as you say, if you are there.
The films you have look like they were taken as survey radiographs just to get an idea what might be going on. Your films answered the question, "does this dog have an old pelvic fracture badly healed"?" Or, "does this dog have osteosarcoma someplace I can't feel with my hands?" Now that you have a diagnosis of HD you want diagnostic xrays that can be compared to normal and compared again over time. They will be happy to do this, I'm certain.
