Amber has long front teeth, well at least longer than any other dog I've had. She is a power chewer and in addition to her antler, soft toys, balls, etc I will give her beef marrow bones that she loves. She really works them and gets all the cancellous bone out from the inside. The other day she was working one of these and I heard a sharp crack, and she had broken off one of the corners of a front tooth, she also has a bottom tooth that looks like it is missing a piece. Does anyone know if this will bother her at any point? Can a vet bond the tooth? should I be worried that maybe her teeth are soft. Before I had her I'm pretty sure she was fed a poor quality food, I've now got her on a premium puppy food. Could this early diet have effected her teeth or her bones???

Is the tooth broken so that you can see any red/pink inside the tooth--did it bleed? Or do you only see more tooth enamel at the break?
A clean, shallow slab fracture with no pithy insides showing probably is okay. (or could at least wait until the next vet visit to take a look.) If the inside of the tooth is exposed then the tooth will need to be extracted or it can abscess (an infection in the jaw.) It can also be painful, although many dogs won't seem like they are in pain.
I just went through this with one of my GSDs teeth. He broke it on an elk antler chew. The tooth had to be pulled under general anesthesia, and the gum sutured.
Bonding a dog's tooth wouldn't work--they put too much pressure on them.
Nope can't see any of the inside, I can see just a slightly darker enamel. I'll keep an eye on it in case pulp becomes visible. Too bad the bonding won't work, she has such a pretty smile.

I ended up taking the hard antler chew away. Mine seem just as happy with softer toys and I'm unwilling to risk them breaking any more teeth. The one extraction cost $600 after all was said and done.
Thanks, she had a crazy baby tooth so that got me wondering, her adult teeth are big, white , and appear to be strong. I've taken to throwing out her marrow bones, will probably let her still gnaw on one but not let her "keep" them.
