Well, Jethro hasn't been coughing for a couple of days, but he is hacking and he is bringing up phlegm. He ate half his dinner tonight. I took his temperature and it is 101.5. We had just gotten in from our evening walk, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. His energy is a little low, but he hasn't missed a walk or anything. He played tug with me on the field today.
His vaccinations are up to date, they gave him the 6 way combo at the shelter and he got his booster shot in the summer. I don't think there was anything else he was supposed to get.
They had stopped giving vaccinations for kennel cough at the shelter because they found too many dogs were getting sick from the vaccination.
Is his cold running its normal course? Or is it time to take him to the vet?

Jethro is just coming up on one year. He was coughing, that stopped about 3 days ago. He does sound congested, like he is hacking to clear his throat. I don't think it is bile. He has been eating normally until last night.

He actually seems better! We had a great walk, and he had enough energy to react to a doggy giving him the eye from across the street. He was taking all his treats with gusto, and he has been hacking a little less since he got up. I think I will give him another 24 hours and see. Maybe he has turned the corner on this thing. I wish I could just rub Vicks on his chest and give him a hot lemon and maple syrup!
