Now that I think about it, I had a horrible cough this summer that went on for almost 2 months. It was terrible. My mom had it too and her and her husband are both docs. There was nothing they could do to "fix" it.... just take meds to supress the symptoms till it ran its course. There were many cranky days from sleep deprived spouses if I recall correctly.
I had pneumonia three times, cough, hard to catch your breath and chronic malaise, you need and xray to be sure. three to five days with the right meds usually works

Hmmm....2 out of 3. Don't have trouble catching my breath (or it doesn't seem like it unless I'm having one of my coughing episodes).
I figure if I go back to the doc she'll probably do the x-ray just to be sure.
Are you bringing up phlegm when you cough. What color is it?
Greenish is usually a sign of bronchitis and brownish pneumonia.
My husband had pneumonia once, found by X ray and bronchitis
many times. He also recommends Buckleys expectorant.
Still bringing up stuff but it's not green any more. I think the Z-Pak took care of that. Been using Mucinex which seems to help. Just really tired of this cough and being exhausted
Are you able to eat well and the right foods? I learned when my son was sick how many calories our body burns when fighting an infection / trying to heal. Although I know you are in no way the mood to cook, try to eat healthy foods right now even if not in the mood to eat. It MIGHT help with the feeling of exhaustion. And take a long, hot bath... that can be comforting. Hope the tide turns soon.
I ate really well when I was ate my cousin's. She insisted. Not so good at home but I'm trying. Forced myself to eat a decent dinner tonight so hopefully that will help. Been drinking tons of water and juice. Hot showers do help. The steam breaks stuff up. Have the humidifier in my room with me and that really helps, too.
I think I start to feel better then go to work and come home exhausted (the joys of starting a new job). Between the new job and the old one I'm working about 50 hrs/wk right now. I know that's not helping anything at all. 3 day weekend this weekend should help.
