Something else to consider, "back to back" and "back to back" are not always equal. It's one thing to breed a bitch back to back who has heat cycles every 5-6 months, another thing to do it with a bitch who comes into heat every 10+ months.
I've heard variations of this study for a number of years now, and always been on the fence about it. I've done "back to back" on 6 and 10 month cycle females. I've also done breedings that were a few years apart. Haven't really noticed any difference in terms of the females health, the puppies health, etc as long as the female bounced back well from the first litter.
Tracy also had some good points regarding peoples emotions vs the science.
