I love to grow winter sguash, buttercup, but it does require extra space, but johnnys selected seed has a shortened vine variety that I have grown.Good flavor and easy to grow here. Also like to grow hot peppers.Leaf lettuce is easy to grow and takes very little space. Onions take little space and carrots.Herbs are easy to grow in a small space and bees and butterflies feed on some. I hope to grow basil and parsley and freeze them in plastic ziplock bags for future use. Determinate tomatoes stop growing when they set fruit, indeterminate tomatoes grow all season and need more space.I am growing roma tomtoes for salsa and tomato paste, determinate

The older I get, the more I want to grow *stuff*.
You are rather young for this to manifest itself, but it sounds like a sure case of "Old Fart Disease" if I ever heard of one... Growing veggies is one of the primary symptoms, as is wearing suspenders (Dennis also shows this symptom, however he kills anything he tries to grow, BUT he does create funky grill holders out of old dog crate parts, which is another well documented symptom.) Other symptoms include wearing denim overalls with white sleeveless Tshirts, wearing Bermuda shorts with calf-high socks, and having stacks of seed catalogs in the bathroom. Deep sigh... you are so young, Michael.
Oh well... We've been harvesting two delicious varieties of lettuce over the past several weeks but with the heat which has set in, we won't be doing so much longer. My 'maters are NO where near as beautiful as yours are Micheal, but I've also planted green peppers, onions, yellow squash and zuchinni, so hopefully they will be "purtier".
Your new garden is wonderful!!

Oh crap. At home I have Burpee, and Gardener's Supply catalogs on my nightstand. At work I have a Gurney's catalog.
Ashley wanted to grow our own salad mix, too, but the garden wasn't ready when prime growing time for those was around. It'll be 100 here soon, so I'm sure it wouldn't be worth the time. I may take out some squash or okra plants when it cools down and see if some can hurry up and grow before our frost dates.
If it doesn't work, so what. Just a good excuse to plant something else.

What a nice garden.
I have a limited 'sun' space, so I grow my main herbs (basil, oregano, thyme) and THE necessity, tomatoes in planters in the summer. I also go for some jalapenos or habaneros in a clay pot. I live in a place with a horrible climate and these things make me happy. The rest of the space is plants/flowers. Thanks for the pics!

There WAS a little cluster of trees on the east-southeast side of the garden.
Those trees knocked 3 or so hours of sun off the 4 northern most tomato plants. The difference in growth rate was amazing. Like a foot difference and getting worse every day.
I cut those trees down, and they have since taken off.
Yes, without sun....No maters.

I have a forest on the east side of my house. I planted in the sunniest part of the yard but need to remove some large trees that are casting shade on my garden.

Lol! Yeah, once you start gardening, trees become the enemy.

Your lawn is gorgeous.
Mine=creeping charlie, dandelions, assorted grasses not blue. It needs years of bi-annual fertilizer and herbicide. Someday maybe.
