today was Ace's and mine first day to go to "tracking" school at our local club (local as in 1 hour one way with no traffic). It started at 7 so we got up at five got ready..treats in treat bag..two leashes just in case..crate, extra blankets in case of an oops, you name it we had it.
I couldn't sleep the night before because I was really excited to show off my new pup and how cute he is. hopeing to see an instant deep nose..you know shooting for the moon!
two cups of coffee and both our tummies empty we arrive at our destination. A HUGE field with all the equipment you can imagine. There was an RV and two trucks with five crates..so I knew i was in the right place. hopped out and let Acey pooh take a potty break. the second i put him up i see both trucks drivig off! I knew i was in the right place, i knew i was on time..maybe even early..i also knew that the coffee was starting to have an effect I wasn't excited about.
I call the club trainer..no answer
I flex my cheeks,grab my keys and drive down the road to see if I missed something. No dice. I start on the road home.
The whole way thinking those mean folks should have at least told me they weren't meeting up, i should have got a call, or at least an email..i was kinda hurt.
I get a call at 9am. I explain to the trainer the whole long story of how I had made the trip and they left me high and dry..only to find out they were on the OTHER side of the HUGE field..the people that were at the RV were camping there from out of state. There were about 10 cars 2000 yard away and if I had just looked south of RV I would have seen them. Guess we'll be trying again tomorrow.
At least I was in the right place kinda
