I have a year old male GSD and I'm bot sure how to correct this problem as he has a great temperament and is normally well-behaved so I'm not sure what's going on with him and what I'm not doing right to correct it. As a younger pup, he always liked tugging on peoples sleeves if they were wearing long sleeve sweat shirts, even landing his teeth on their arms, but that problem was solved with a command. Recently he's started to jump up at (some) people with force and biting into their clothes to tug. It's unpredictable. For the first time he did it to me the other day when I let him out of his kennel. The more I tried to get him do a down or sit, the more forceful he jumped nippinginto my t-shirt in several places, putting a hole in it. He also jumped up at a young girl staying with me (they were playing ball) bruised her arm and managed to tug her jersey off over her head. This happens when he's off leash and pulling him away by his collar makes him defensive but he won't obey the usual commands. ???
6. Take obedience trained dog and interact with people.
7. Use obedience to help teach good manners with people. (i.e. no jumping up on them and tearing off their jerseys) Corrections will be necessary at this point.
