Hi all, is just fair that I share good moments I have with my pack. Since maybe sometimes the opposite side does come out.
I am riding high from my pack and their practice yesterday, plus a very good lesson I learned of no getting my body in the middle of the sleeve and the out, while he is in a frenzy. That action will be gone soon, I am talking about the trashing.
I am on a high with my dogs, they did so good, even thou it has been a while we work out at the field. Someone mention that Chico is two dogs in one, is that good? maybe she meant he is too much dog for me? Anyway with you guys on my side, I will ask and keep you posted.
I have a question? As Chico and I enter the field, and I gave him our word to get pump up, the decoy took sometime to be on the field, Chico jumped and got my shirt, I know it is a dangerous game, how can I don't make that mistake again? And any other Schutzhund tips. Plus I have to keep him calm at the vets office since he is dog aggressive, any help? Dan

Lol, don't activate him till the decoys in front of him Dan. Maybe do a little ob till he comes out on the field.
You need to work on Chico's focus at a distance from other dogs . Beginning where he can see them but not react and later reducing that distance as he learns to not react.

Steve it was not funny at the time, but now I can laugh with you. But I figure that one out, do no give Chico the word until I see the decoy on the field.
Now the big issue, Chico the world beater, that maybe means some corrections, remember he is 97,4 pounds. And he is not soft. Dan

Oh yes Sis, Carla is no slouch either, she is getting the idea real fast.
I love them both, completely, different personality, plus easier to hold and handle. Real loving, not like the grouch Chico. They are mines, my pack. Dan

I imagine I would have gotten some more advice on what to do at the vet. Dan

Steve touched on it-
"You need to work on Chico's focus at a distance from other dogs . Beginning where he can see them but not react and later reducing that distance as he learns to not react."
Not long worded, but it really sums it up, when you're working with an aggressive or fearful dog. Slow de-sensitization is key.

Thanks Kelly and Steve, I imagine I have been showing him my displeasure by giving the stern no, plus a jerk to get back in position, and then a reward as he mind. OK will continue working Thanks. Dan

Rather then correction (which could add to his anxiety, and cause a fight between you two) can you ask for a 'watch' command? (or look, if you're using watch in schutzhund) Ask him to give you eye contact, and reward for the slightest glance when he's under distraction. Build duration at home when he's not distracted.
Lauren also have you great advice about asking for the first or last appt of the day- less traffic, less stress on Chico AND you!
