about 300lbs of yelling human across a field if properly motivated!
In the middle of out yesterday afternoon I joined a hunt in finding an injured raccoon out in the day (we were trying to herd it towards the traps set up....I gave Ryuk's leash to a nice rather gentleman who lives a few doors down. I warned him he wasn't an easy dog to hold and was told that he was sure that he was heavy enough to keep my "small" dog under control. This man owns a 100+ lb golden retreiver who pulls like a freight engine...he makes fun of Ryuk and I bikejoring all the time telling me to get a bigger dog if I actually wanted to go anywhere. Now in his defense I did forget to tell Ryuk to "stay" which is very important since just because his leash is being held by a person...does not mean that person exists if I were to call him or if he felt the need to come find me.
Well, we caught the raccoon pretty quickly and a the police officer on scene took it away (I'm assuming to shoot it, it wasn't in good shape). I started back to pick up my dog.....and that's when Ryuk saw I was coming back and decided to meet me half way. He yanked my neighbor off his feet and dragged him kicking and screaming a good 30 feet over the grass until I told him to stop and down (yay, we actually understand commands from a distance now!)....
Today we trotted past my neighbor on the scooter, not one comment ^_^
We need to work on being "tethered" to humans I guess. Anyone know how to do this? He can be tied to a stationary object and will lay down and wait, you don't even have to tell him to stay....tie him to a person and you MUST tell him to stay or well....this happens (though never this dramatically, he's usually just "talks" and bounces)
ROFL.... sorry, I don't have anything helpful... I'm just picturing little, sweet, well trained Ryuk dragging a giant man kicking and screaming across the lawn. Thanks for my morning giggle!
It depends if it is on wheels, snow, or rails :-) On rails you can do a ridiculously high amount which I am assuming that is what the youtube video above is (can't access youtube where I am right now).
Poe was around 55 pounds and pulled 2400 pounds on wheels on carpet when he was in his weight pulling prime.
I'm glad someone posted a video of a pit bull pulling weight. I was going to, but it made me smile that someone else was thinking of my little terrier friends.
