I have a rescued DDR, German Shepherd, male that I have noticed is vocal to some, not all strangers. Nitro, is great with most women that we encounter but with men he is very vocal. He does not ALWAYS bark aggresively, but he does vocalize his presence. Twice now he has started out with a bark and it has turned to a aggressive snap with him lounging at the person. I have him in a pronge collar and I have often made him Sitz and wait till the person has passed. I am just at a loss for what I can do to help him with his confidence in me, and that I will let him know when it is proper to be on the defence. I live in a community that has seen my dog react in a less that fitting manner and they have become afraid of him, at least till they meet him and find out what a softy he really is. If anyone has input that may help me help my dog through this so that he can be out in public more often....PLEASE let me know. I have also halted his Bite work and we have gone back to polishing up our tracking and OB. Nitro is 26 months old.
Thanks, Kelly
