You'd be suprized how difficult to hold onto a muscled up 60-65 lb little girl can be especially when you are putting a decoy in front of them.
This is they type of thing that causes me to pause just a bit and reconsider my skijor/bikejor plans for Kenzi. She already pulled me over once. She is only 35#. I'm not sure I want her to build any more muscle and endurance
Ive had to slow down on having Tash carry weight in her backpack. Within two weeks she put on about three inches in her chest and shoulders. That was with only one to six pounds in the pack, and being careful to vary the length of time she wears it.
Im still convinced that the backpack is the greatest thing ever, but it was amazing to see the physical change in such a short amount of time.
I was thinking about starting bikejoring this spring and summer, with the hope of skijoring next winter. You got me rethinking the plan, Mara!

I'm interested in bikejoring - any links to start reading about it? What keeps the dog on course, and how do they know when to turn and in what direction?

If you search the forum im pretty sure Keirsten Lippman has written about how to get started at great length.
Yup. In this case, plug the word into the LEFT search box ("search Leerburg.com") rather than the right one (which is the board only) because there won't be a bunch of returns leading to the LB site instead of the board.
I just tried it and received dozens of returns with the term bikejoring.
hey mara...squat. lol...that's right..when using roller blades or skie (or snowboards like i did) remeber..start off in a squat and stick that butt out as farrrrr as you can for better ballance on your part. then when the dog is more comfy..and you feel more comfy..you can slowly start to stand up. does wonders for the back side too! MAN if only I had a harness big enough for Moses. i think i'll make him one, go bye some roller blades, and get my butt back! yeah!
a bully bone is the BEST distraction as you can see..good quality time without picking on my poor St bernard.
I don't know if Ace isn't going to be in the 60-70lb range though..
