haven't let Ryuk weave through my legs and trip me in beat to music all winter (the ice made me fall without his help lol)....it was rainy and gross today so I didn't want to work him in the mud....
Ram: thanks ^_^ he's a bit of a puddle wimp (I don't blame him, considering I end up having to clean off all the gunk in those puddles later in a bath). If I tell him to lay down in the puddle he "hovers" over them. Strangely he doesn't mind swampy grass, it's specificly puddles on pavement lol
Betty: I started with the center command (where he stands between my legs) then I held a reward at the base of my back, didn't let him go forward and encouraged him to step backwards. As soon as he realized there was a treat or toy he started getting really excited to back up and get it. From there I slowly moved his starting point more forward until he was completely clear of my legs to start. He already knew how to spin into position so it was as simple as aiming for a different area (rather than at my side, to aim for my knees) and my jumping quickly enough not to catch a dog butt to the shins lol. Once he got the whole command I started trying it from different angles, holding the treat where I wanted him to end up looking up at. (beware to anyone male who wants to teach this command, having your dog look up as he backs through your legs=not a great idea....according to a friend of mine this hurts a lot lol)
