As well, please take into consideration that I was not feeling well and sometimes temporary illness/injury (god, my head was hurting) can bring on these kinds of aggressive out lashings.
I didn't for a moment take it as a true aggressive outlash... no blood, I didn't end up at the ER, blah, blah, blah. Maybe a bit of bitch-on-bitch posturing / establishing pack structure (you do see me in the corner, belly exposed dont' you?) but no aggression detected at all.
I'll do anything to prevent being alpha-rolled... Bwahahahahaaaa!

The dark, threatening clouds slowly part, and a welcoming shaft of golden light gently brushes Barbara' muzzle. She smells the warm crab, bacon and cream cheese and tentatively rolled back on her feet and saw the pack slowly approaching, holding the delectable offering, enticing her to come back into the fold...

Ok, that’s it; I’m getting a flexi leash. You can stumble and wander anywhere you want but if you’re causing chaos I’m letting go and you’re on you’re own.
But no worries, we’ll get the law suit started early and once you’re fully recovered we’ll get you a nice little diamond studded tutu to increase your cuteness and distract from future inappropriate behavior.
Akita’s are silent but deadly. Our guy was great with other dogs, kids and guests but if he felt threatened in any way, generally feeding off me, there was very little warning about his intentions.
He had a very relaxed sort of cautious awareness about him at all times (don’t know if that makes any sense). He did very little bouncing in and out of drive. He was just kind of always prepared. Never saw any kind of flight response in him.
I know a large Akita (he's got to be over 100lbs) who's got some protection training behind him. He'll act un-interested in the helper until he's in striking range, and MAN, he hits like a Mack Truck! Amazing how he can move that bulk around. You described him so well CJ. Always prepared, no flight response, lightning quick reactions when the need arose. Impressive.
