Yep, the police in these sleepy backwaters really are that inept, and incomprehensible - a few weeks ago I was coming off the field with the crew and a Policeman met me at the edge of the field and asked me if I had seen a garden bench on my travels, I said no, pretty sure I would have noticed on over the several acres of flat land, he rolled his eyes at me as a hysterical woman jumped out of his patrol car to ask me to "please, please help us look for it!!" Err, no sorry, and couldn't imagine how the officer would necessarily have the time to spare to trawl the lanes looking for it, I got a death stare from the woman, and an apologetic shrug from the Copper!
I have little faith in them finding the man, and less faith in them finding the dog, it is embarrassing to admit it, but the police in this country have no teeth and little or no respect from the public
What a sad, sad situation! I too find it shocking that the police don't think two elderly people being assaulted, their home broken into and their dog stolen isn't an emergency!!
My thoughts are with this poor couple... please keep us posted.
Yes, there is a general feeling of something along those lines being organised - though in recent years when a reclusive and eccentric local farmer found pikeys burgling his farm, he shot o and killed one the pond life, and quelle suprise, the farmer was jailed, and after his sentence was over he had to go into hiding as the family of the scum have said when they find him they will burn his house down with him in it.
How in the name of god do you deal with that mentality??

That is really unbelievable. Let's see assault and battery, breaking and entering/home invasion, robbery, and theft of something that would definitely be high enough value to constitute a major felony is not considered high priority in the UK? Makes me appreciate the police here with all their faults.
I'll be praying for your friend's dog's safe return.
