Last year I went to rescue some dogs from a hoarder's house with an incredible person called Eldad Hagar. He and his wife just dedicate their lives to rescuing strays - he will go to the worst areas of downtown LA in the middle of the night if he gets a call that a stray or abused dog is roaming the streets. His work is really worth supporting, and if anyone in the LA area sees a difficult dog that needs picking up off the streets, he's the man. His website is http://www.hopeforpaws.org
Thanks for sharing such a great video. I'm so happy to see those dogs get a better equipped home. Also, it is great to see someone rescue the dogs while not belittling the clearly mentally ill owner. I went to the website and Edie's video made me tear up. Warm wishes going towards LA for these great folks!
Hoarding is a strange thing. Some people really are mentally ill, some are evil, and some (like this woman, I think) simply are not equipped to deal with the situation they find themselves in. When the welfare of the animals is your top concern, it's easy to condemn them. But it's also easy to see how many people could fall into such a crisis without understanding how it happened to them. The main problem is that they don't realise that help is available.
