That stool looks pretty typical for a sudden diet change. It might be worth contacting the breeder to see what he was feeding. It would also be very common for some loose stool based on being a little stressed in a new environment.
Are you sure your pup is 5 months? When is his b-day? He looks very "puppy" in the pics. He's a cutie
I need to know EXACT potion size of chicken and rice to give to the dog. (Connie I did forget how much you said. I remember you said to over cook the rice and make it like a porridge and leave the water in)
I've also never made rice or boiled chicken. So I need to know that too please. :\
I just had to cook chicken and rice for my dog this morning, just overcook the rice and boil the chicken. I did a large batch, because I will feed him several small meals today...others might have chosen to fast their dog, but he doesn't do well on an empty stomach (that's what started this issue with him). My dog weighs 80 lbs and I gave him about a cup of half chicken/half rice this morning. He's not interested in eating again right now, so I will wait and repeat when he is. I will feel better when he goes poo and I can assess what's going on now.
Feed your dog small amounts and keep an eye on his stool. Call the breeder and figure out what he was eating, go buy some of that, and when his stool firms up, start him on his kibble again. If loose stool persists, consider getting a fecal check done at the Vets.

Nick, Chill out! It's a pup. The first weeks are just bonding and house breaking. Wellness didn't go over well with 2 of mine for some reason, caused loose stool, maybe the same thing happened to your pup. Don't be hectic worrying about everything , just enjoy the experience of a pup, unfortunately it goes by quickly.

Half a cup of the prepared mixture, undrained. Another half cup two hours later. You should have an improved poop (and that one was not a poop disaster) resulting a couple hours after the second one.

White rice. Buy it. NOT Minute Rice. NOT instant rice. NOT frozen rice. NOT par-boiled (Uncle Ben's). White rice. (One brand is Carolina. There are many.) It might come in a plastic bag near the pasta. Ask at the checkout: Is this regular white rice? Not parboiled, not instant, not processed?
In a large pot, put a cup of rice and 4 cups of water (instead of the 2 cups of water it probably says) and bring to a boil. Turn to a low simmer and cook until very very soft. Soupy.

If there's a choice, choose "short-grain white rice." If no choice, long grain is fine.
Near the end, add some diced skinless boneless white chicken. Much less chicken than rice. The rice is the binding agent.
