he hates the kennel. I have the Expen hooked up to it via zip ties and the ties are cut short and turned so he cant hurt him self. He hasn't noticed the ties

Thanks for sharing the videos, Nick. Some comments, praise, and suggestions:
He's a very handsome pup. Congrats.
He's clearly very focused on you, which is terrific. The little front sit and eye contact is great. He wants to engage with you. Without that you can't teach anything. With it, you can teach anything. So build on that.
It's also easy to see this tough looking pup with his big boy ears and cute sit as a dog. But he's not. He's a baby.
He also clearly trusts your wife. The nap in the lap was very cute and you can tell that he feels comfortable and safe. All good.
A tug-type toy (a rope, rag, even a small stuffed animal) is the way to engage with him. He explores the world with his mouth. Instead of letting him put your arm in (again, he just wants to engage with you), make a game that both of you can play. He doesn't need to learn any tricks or obedience right now. The most important thing to learn right now is that Mom and Dad are fair and would never hurt me--and they are the source of everything wonderful in the world.
In the second video--you're crate and x-pen set up is quite impressive. It's waaaaaay more room than he should have unsupervised, however. In this luxury condo he can easily pee in one room, poop in another, and still have a dinner party and invite friends over. Let him earn this much space. Half that crate is what he should have right now.
I've never even owned an x-pen. I don't know what that's for. When the pup isn't in the crate, he's with me.
I do have his kennel split so he can only lay down. he is throwing a MAJOR fit right now going to take video of that. He wants me so bad he freaks out all the time. I feel so terrible!!!!
