Dennis you can try some FILLER type foods like veggies that will help fill his tummy without much in the way of calories. My dogs LOVE green beans. If I don't have fresh, I buy the canned WITHOUT added salt. I always keep some cans on hand. Mine even like them as treats. They are pretty cheap & obviously store well, so you can purchase a large quantitiy when on sale.
I feed raw & usually add tripe or some kind of veggies....mine also like green & yellow squash, broccoli & some carrots. I don't go heavy on the carrots,as they have a high sugar content. But dogs like most veggies & I use them in extra quantities to help keep weight in check.
I can only manage twice a day feeding, I fed four cups of kibble this morning at 0530 and four more at 1700. Ravenous both times. Let him in the house this evening but forgot to pick up Max's once a day four cups. He attacked as well. He was engorged and still very active. He found all the jelly beans my kids dropped. He never had to compete for food his entire life, plenty of his mom's milk augmented with fresh goats milk. I don't think bulking out his food is going to help. I'll just have to watch him closely, When he gets older I'll have to really put my foot down about the treats and snacks Mrs Jones and the kids are use to giving the other dogs. Max is overwieght. Erika and Roxie are ok because I exercise them.

Like Anne, I keep cheap canned no-salt-added green beans always on hand. They are almost like canned pumpkin for must-have staples here. LOL
The frozen ones (the "French cut" type, which are slit down the middle, so they are not surrounded by stiff cell walls) are often on sale too, with three big bags for $4.
Nothing like green beans for fluffing up the bowl and adding almost no calories.
Wish I had video of this. just a few minutes ago Mrs Jones was making a turkey sandwich and called Drago over to her, Drago gave her a Sitz, Foos and a platz in rapid succesion, she didn't ask for it he just up and did it. Chow Hound scored again, this time smoke turkey w/ Mayo, no cheese

eta: I love it when they offer the rapid succession of all the commands they have learned hoping to hit the jackpot!
My male does this all the time.
I love Drago!
The girls' appetites seem to have increased lately, too. They have huge amounts of loose skin, so I think a big growth spurt is imminent. We feed three times a day - still pouring on the goats' milk with every meal. If we do sell these girls, I guess we'll either have to sell them to goat-owners or ship goats milk with them - if you try giving dry, they look at it like, "Huh" what's this? Do you expect me to eat rocks?"
