My friend's new dog that I'll be fostering for her the next week....This was the first meeting (we'd aready done the testing....here I was goofing around with him since I figured out he'd let me do ANYTHING)
I also mistakenly tripped him, the no-pull harness made him quite sore so he was a bit stumbly...he fell sort of hard....which is why my expression is so goofy looking XD When we got permission to get him out of the harness he was fine. Today out playing in the flat collar he was fine, his "armpits" are rather raw though...I'll be monitoring them for signs of infection.
According to the shelter he's a GSD mix...according to how he looks and his temperment he's Dutch Shepherd/Pit. It's funny, by simply adjusting the angle you see his head at he's two different dogs...The top half of his head is DS, the bottom half is pit. He's got one standing ear, the other is standing but the tip top of it falls over when he tilts his head (SO CUTE), his voice is (unfortunaly) DS....he's a year old....he has the maturity age of a 10 week old puppy (we're working on crate training...I can't leave the room without him screaming bloody murder....my neighbors are going to hate me). He quite friendly if you engage with him...though comes across as aloof with people passing...the shelter marked him as unfriendly because he didn't treat mug everyone but so far we're seeing that as a plus...
So far he LOVES Ryuk....Ryuk er....Ryuk's been VERY good XD The main problem is Rico doesn't understand what some of the things he does mean...he's a very rude puppy and has NO idea that a year old puppy should not be climbing over another dog and grabbing its ears and NO idea what a "correction" bark from a dog means.
Cute boy! Fun puppy too- from what you've said about him, it sound like he's A LOT like Koe when I got him. No idea what was OK with other dogs, and not ok. (Well, he still does not have a very good grasp on that. There are only 2 or 3 dogs he's allowed to 'play' with)
Gotta be honest though... I don't see much (any?) DS in there! Personally, I see Pit and Heinz57/lab/american mutt. Maybe GSD, but I don't really see much. Hey, thats JMO though. Looks like your housemates (AND YOU!) will have your hands full!
Nice looking dog Jamie. Your comment about the no-pull harness making him sore is one of the reasons I hate to see those on a dog! JMO! I expect to see this dog dancing and weaving, retrieving frisbees and washing windows in no time at all.
