I'm not doing any bite training with my pup, but I picked him out because of his desire to engage in play and tug. At 7 weeks old he fell asleep in my arms while gripping a toy, and still didn't let go once he zonked out.
I've successfully taught him to 'out' like I want - either by immediately giving in to the out while the object is in my hand, or bringing the object to me and placing it in my hand to give in.
Our next step is to learn indicated items, pick them up, and bring them to me with a command. I'm working on 'service dog' skills, even though he is not a service dog. I think it's a ton of fun to have a dog who will do some work for you. What if one day I'm laid up and drop something, can't bend to pick it up? Well I can just call my handy dandy malinois and tell him to pick it up and put it right in my hand!
I really need to get a video recorder instead of just a camera so I can spam you guys with his training sessions. He's so ridiculously cute in his enthusiasm!
