Okay, I have this one issue with my labXpoodle. Once I've cracked it she will be PERFECT!!
Okay, as I've said before she isn't like other Labradoodles, poodle crosses - whatever. She has a high work/prey drive.
She gets on fine with my mum's bichon (they are best buddies), and a couple of other small dogs. Gnerally she is fine to walk past on the other side of the road - but sometimes lunges. I've noticed it's certain breeds as well: Jack Russells, Border Terriers, some westies.
When she is off leash with small dogs RUNNING she is fine. However, if they are walking slowly she is quite dominant and tries to pin them down. She has never hurt another dog, never drawn blood or anything. It's just a lot of noise. She has done this twice, and now I don't let her off leash with small dogs.
Any ideas on how to stop this? I've tried corrections, distractions and vibration collars - but she can be unpredictable.
- but she can be unpredictable off leash. Shall I work her on leash around them and get her to ignore them?
The thing is, in the UK parks, people think it is fine to let there small dog wander up to your leashed dog to investiagte, even if I have her on a long line!!
Shall I teach an immediate recall/OUT? How do I do this?
