On our sunday walk we cross a small pup on leash. Dexter gave the pup a play bow but the pup yelp and cower. Dexter went on a barking fit and growling and showing teeth and all.
He never did that, ok he never even pay attention to anything during our walk/run except the odd squirel.
I gave him a very firm no with a hard pop on the leash. We carried on with no more out on line behaviour. It was all over in less the 30 seconds.
Today he did that to me. Bow while barking and growling and showing teeth. I kept walking toward him. I was about 10' from him at first. He bounce to me and jump. My timing was just right with my block. He got hard in my hands. I hear his teeth clap has I block him. He look so puzzeld after. I called him to me after and he came.
We are back to square one on pack structure.
I am not sure if it is aggression, bad play, bratty 2 yo dog.
Any idea how to correct that if it ever happen again?
Have you had problems with your dog before? It's tough to say over the internet but it sounds like he was just trying to play with you. My friend's Dobe had a very rough play style with her. He loved to body slam while growling and snapping. It was all play with him, nothing to be concerned about.
