So, my housemate picked up an everlasting treat ball for her dog, Ryuk kept taking it from him (or rather, her dog keeps giving it to him.....) so I bought him a Fireplug....
however I'm having an issue..Ryuk has NO problems using his paws and teeth to carefully extract the treat from the toy, and as you can imagine, once it's out it's gone...to be honest I'm still not sure how it's able to do it since with my opposable thumbs I have trouble getting it out....
Anyone else have issues with this? How did you solve it? This is an expensive toy and he really seem to like it. I like it since unlike the Tug-A-Jug it's quiet and harder to weaponize...I'd like it to work for us...
I have had the same problem my mal popped it out within minutes of having it. I have not bought anymore of the discs to go in. She chews on it without the disc. You can also use it like a kong (the video ed has shows them putting cream cheese in it)
One of mine did the same & started chewing the thing up. I still have another new one downstairs with some extra balls. And this was a 6mo old pup. After that I never gave the other one to my adult dog. This was a few years ago. I could see a young dog choking on one of those ball inserts if they manage to get it out.
The pup that chewed this also chewed in 1/2 a nylabone made for heavy chewer adult dogs. After that only rec bones were marrow bones until they removed the marrow & then the bone diaappeared Or they got bully sticks.
Koenig and Sara can pop them out quickly too- in all sizes and shapes. I stuff them like I would a kong, and freeze them. We have a Bento Ball that is starting to show some wear, but it's Koenig's favorite. I'd be worried about him, and possibly heading to the vet if his toys didn't show wear!
Anne- WOW! Koenig hasn't totally demolished one yet, and he's the most voracious chewer I've ever had/seen.
Same experience here. Our Bailey got it figured out in about 2 hours. We just use it also like a Kong, just stuffing it once in a while with our own treats, just for a change.
Funny thing, Bailey has been great about not guarding food, toys, etc. But that Everlasting treat ball was the only thing she would attempt to guard. That was another reason we ended up discontinuing it with the treat. She's been fine ever since. Must be opium or something in that treat.
