I don't know how long it had been there, but it was at one time filled with leftover raw ground up chicken and bones. I had given to one of the dogs and forgotten to keep track of it. Over many days there has been a raunchy smell emanating from the crate room and we blamed Jethro, who sleeps in there. Um. Wrong. I finally did a clean sweep of the room and found the lost kong, covered in maggots. Ugh!!!!!!! I guess they have been off-gassing in there at night when we close the window so Jethro can sleep in his cave. Ah, the joys of managing raw meat when you are new.
