My local shelter has an adult sitting on death row and tomorrow I'm going to look at him tomorrow morning and most likely pull him. I cannot foster this dog, but will be boarding him. It's better than the alternatives - death or the wrong hands. Obviously he wasn't on the right track to land himself in jail to begin with.
He will be neutered and given all shots/a microchip. Unfortunately I don't know any contacts beyond ABMC for mal rescue, and have been told by the foster coordinator (email last week) that they're having to turn dogs away because of lack of foster homes. I don't know if they'll help place him even if I have him somewhere safe. I will be in contact with them, but was hoping people here could help me out with finding rescues that would help place him.
Weird. There was a male Mal in a shelter a few hours from me. We helped get him pulled and I was actually going to foster him for about a week for a rescue when a Mal rescue took him in. Poor thing was scheduled to die the day I found out about him, and with TONS of help we got him a few extra days and networked him.
Samantha, do you have facebook? If so, there are a lot of pages on there that will network the dog for you, and they usually are in contact with lots of rescues.
I got a call from the New Orleans GSD rescue and they're willing to list him and help with placement and home checks as long as I deal with screening adopters.
ABMC sent me an email asking if I can care for him until a foster home opens in their network, so he may have a rescue already interested in him, as long as he's given a bit more time out of the shelter.
