I want to get a LB Belt Leash but I'm debating which size to get. The 38" would work but barely - if it stretched at all it would be sliding right off if I clipped it around my waist.
OR I could go with the 44" and wear it over my shoulder when I'm not using it.
So for all of you that have them - how much have your leashes stretched as you've used them?
I have several of the 6 ft Amish leashes that I have had for almost 8 years. One of which I cut thru the loop/handle & have used for years during 'decoy work' with multiple dogs. These are the wide ones, not the narrow ones. I also have a puppy leash that went thru 3 pups.
These have been used in all kinds of weather & I have never noticed any stretching or fraying or weakness in the leather in any way. I don't even oiled them, like I do with horse tack. They just 'are'.
I doubt that there is any change is the quality of the ones that are now sold.
I have two of the LB 6 ft Amish leashes with the secondary handles in them and they have not stretched out at all.
These LB Amishes leashes are the only leash I will buy from now on as they are super strong and built to last just about forever.
I don't think the belt leashes would deviate too much from the 6ft leashes at all. I wish I could help you with the right size.
I would just say that mine have not stretched out at all and I have had them for several years now. Hope this helps you Mara.
I have several of the Amish leashes, a few are close to a decade old. They have been through my dogs, SD’s in training, rescues, Mal’s and DS pups. There has been no stretch, and very little wear. I ordered a double handled here last fall, and the quality is still the same. I have an over the shoulder preference, if you prefer a belt, I wouldn’t worry too much about stretch.
Thanks for the input!! I went ahead and ordered one of each 40% off this week so the price was right. I figure that I can use the 44" over the shoulder (my preference, too!!) in the summer, then I can use the 38" as a belt over my coat in the winter.
