My 7 yr. old GSD was diagnosed with lumbosacral stenosis today. The vet prescribed gabapentin, amantadine and acupuncture. Are there any supplements/vitamins I can add that would make him more comfortable? I currently have him on Synflex, fish oil, 400 IU vit e, and 500mg vit C.
Hi Connie, thanks for your reply. He's not incontinent, but does have muscle atrophy in his back legs, and struggles slightly to rise from a sitting position. Vet said that surgery wasn't often effective, and said we should focus on pain management. I like and trust my vet, but I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion, because i know that surgery is less effective in the more advanced stages, so if it will in fact slow the progression, then i want to do it now. He's currently on 7500mg of a fish oil/day, and I'll be adding MSM shortly, as i read that it's an anti inflammatory.
