My neighbor hit his dog with his car, and brought the dog over to see what I thought---anyhow, the dog is supposed to be a "lab x" but it has a RR cowlick from top of the head to mid back.
I was curious, does this mean it may have RR in the background? I have never seen this on any other mutt.
The dog is a bigger than normal leggy yellow lab type with heavier ears than your standard lab and a longer muzzle.
I'd guess it's mixed with RR. I've never seen another dog w/ a cowlick like that. Expensive/rare breed to have a mix of! Must have been a whoops litter for someone.
Not as rare as some might think. The first ones that I saw was a breeding pair, with pups, in 1970 or '71, that friend's had. They had been breeding RRs for a while at that point.
They have just become very popular over the last 10-15 years or so.
I have had a number of friend's that have or still do own RRs.
I know a few people who own them.... but they are also heavily into the Conformation scene, and do some agility as well. I've not known many people to own them just as a pet. Kinda like having a working GSD as a pet! It's a lotta work!
She was dead lame on right foreleg, getting worse over two days, dragging the limb. Fluid fill over the elbow.
Neighbor owns a pick your own strawberry patch, has tons of traffic in and out.
I think the dog was hit by a car.
Sent her to the local vet for Xray, thought she might have a fracture.
Owner's mildly peeved now, no fracture, big bill.
Wonderful "hound" disposition, didn't care about me manipulating this leg,
completely non-reactive, big gaping mouth smile. It's nice to be around a non reactive dog!
