About the new leerburg dvd treaching protection skills without a decoy?
My dog has been taught protection foundation before i got her by eurosport but since i do not have a trainer atm and had a rough start with her (long story maybe will talk about it later) I thought this dvd would be great to maintain the skills she has already learned.
Are there any other people here following this dvd? I dont think a dvd with such an amazing trainer has ever been made before thats why i ordered it right away along with some more bite bars.
Anyways would love to hear if there are other people here following the dvd maybe help each other or guide the newbies? lol
Before this dvd i started with getting the dvds , training with markers, first steps of bite work, the power of playing tug with your dog, and a few others
I use marker/clicker as training, For tugs i got bite bars, jute bars, pillows and all sorts of tugs from this site just so my dog never gets use to tugging with one thing or one size.

This DVD is a great help for anybody doing bite sports. Even though we do work with a helper these exercises make our protection sessions much easier after practicing at home.
The exercises from the DVD are designed to be used to teach the dog the skills at a lower arousal level before putting the dog on a helper/decoy AND to work on protection skills between club sessions.
If you are planning to compete you'll still need to find a good decoy.
My main interest is personal protection but i believe in edds way i hate those trainers of pp who want to make it defense only i am not in any rush and wanted to make it fun for my dog also and keep prey in there while shes still young 18 months.
I just figure i can get better and better at her prey foundation training which is stuff i can use for the rest of her life and practice always. She will always wanna play with the bite bars and tugs. She has good defense according to eurosport it is very high so i wont have issues with her getting locked in prey.
sorry i messed up last paragraph i meant before getting her i was told she had good balance drives and that her dad and mom were like that also with high defense shes got a lot of czech blood in her so when she is mature they expected her defense to be pretty high. Didnt mean to say it is very high already I only got her at a year old. Shes usually calm and happy everywhere friendly to all strangers unless a stranger approache the yard or house. Her father is working police patrol dog in america shipped from slovakia. (Just to give a bit of backround on what kind of dog i am starting with)
She really loves the exercises in this dvd and also hit it big with clicker training. I really am not into the other methods anymore since i started training with clickers. So if i go to a new protection trainer id at least want them to accept that fact that i wanna stay with this type of training for good since it is what works for us she actually enjoys training now.
