I am posting to ask if anyone has dealt with dogs from Heritage Kennels on the south-west side of Chicago. (GSD breeder) I don't know a lot about where her dogs are from, but I have a new training client and he bought his dog from this kennel. I have met the owner once and the kennel has been in business for 100 years (passed down from her father). She sells dogs to police depts. and as pets. Problem is that this pup seems very likely to become a fear biter as he grows up. He barks and lunge at everyone and actually bit me (got my pant leg) during my eval-I was walking him on a leash with a band collar. Also the owner had to return the first dog he bought from this breeder for aggression to his children. (His vet threatened to testify AGAINST him if the first dog ever bit someone.) He says this dog is much better... Now on the first day I took the dog out and got some of the same behaviors, but with some work I was able to calm him down a bit, so I think I can do something with him. BTW the dog is 4 1/2 months old. So my original question-has anyone ever dealt with her dogs and if so, is this typical?
