One of my boy just lean on a large prong collar. I switch him to a 2.25mm, after one firm correction he was walking like a pro.
I needed to buy 3 extra link to fit his neck but it was a real big change. I had played the crazy walking game, he even tangled himself to the point of tripping himself. Months of hard work fixed by one good correction with a smaller prong.
I am wondering if maybe putting two collars on the dog would help and as soon as the dog pulls on the flat giving a sharp pop on the prong. I am having some of the same problems although not quite as bad. Zuki really likes to keep the leash tight with her in front. Problem is by the time it is tight I have not slack to give a good correction with.
Keiko is only easier because his hair is shorter and he is more sensitive to a verbal correction. But he does it too.
I don't let my dogs pull at all. Timeing is important. As soon as the leash is about to get tight I pop. I also always keep some leash to me when walking. If I need to do a quick correction I have some extra leash.
One more thing I keep my arms from being pulled infront of me so I can have some strenght. And I stop walking at the same time as I give the correction when it is bad, not happening lately.
So with Dexter my ex puller on walk (still love bikejoring) He would walk faster then me. Has he get to the end of the leash I pop not tug the leash using my shoulder and arm alomst leaning back a bit and stop walking. That is very quick and not the huge move just enough to get my dog to stop and look at me maybe get him to swing his bumm around.
I don`t want to tug all the time nore make him fly off his feet at the end of he leash as I pull on the leash. Ok maybe the one big correction his feet went up but IT IS NOT A DAILY THING.
Now Dexter just need me to lift my hand and not even tug the leash and he slows down to my pace.
Honnestly I prefer the walk my dog with prong and loose leash then have a tug of war during the walk. It is just more fun for all.
