I have been phaseing out the reward for a while and it is still working well but I find no info as of should I mark but not reward, use the bridge marker or nothing at all and just go on to the next move? I have been doing a bit of every thing but want to know what it should be. Lucifer!

Are you working on simple positions, or maybe teaching the links in a chain (say, a retrieve)? If teaching sit, for example, did you move from 100% m/r reinforcement to less, then to random?

Even then it should ALL be random for the dog. Just not random enough to extinguish a behavior or expectation of some sort of reward. Here again I use the example of a slot machine. You go into it expecting something good to happen when you pull that arm. If you get rewarded randomly and enough times you keep pulling it. Small, random wins keep you going. Remove to many of those small, random wins and you leave that particular machine. You can reward small random behaviors from the dog and the dog will continue trying but if you drop reward to long or to often the dog stops offering the behavior. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
