OK, may be I am a bit biased because she is so dear to me, but I think she is smarter than the average bear.
Yesterday I was training her to lie down on her side on command and pick up various objects other than the dumb bell. This is for the next obedience show December 2011.
One of the objects to be picked up was a squeaky toy. I wanted to try and see if I could make her do two different things with the same object. 1) Bring the object or 2) Squeak the object. I was amazed to see that she caught on pretty fast. She even got innovative when she did the wrong thing by picking it up and then squeaking it while holding the object.
I think I need to quit training her just with mundane stuff oriented towards obedience shows like heel, come, down , sit etc and get creative. Helga has a lot of drive like Bommi, but I dont see the wheel turning in Helga's head like it does for bommi.
