if they're dog exercises, then certainly. but i suspect they are probably not. i need to find time for more of that kind of exercise myself.
I could share some of those too, but they are not fit for Leerburg eyes... It is a family site and Connie might pull out her gloves...
But I agree with Kelly. I am not a fan of day care centers for dogs.
As for some other exercises, you can look into weight pulling (a tire on a walk is a killer!), directed digging (in a dirt or sand pit and on command), training the dog to run blinds (a SCH routine where the dog sprints around blinds where directed), running beside a bike, swimming etc.
But in your situation, look into a used treadmill. One that folds up is handy. It needs to be a supplement to outdoors stuff, not a replacement for, but is a GREAT way to get extra miles in!
Did 8 miles yesterday first thing in the morning. Probably 6-7 mph the whole way. 8 miles. And when we got home what did he do? Grabbed a tug toy and went over to my wife to play. Bleh.
He's back in the crate when we're asleep or not home and has been dealing with it fine since I've significantly upped his activity level while out of the crate.
Dog daycare first day went fine. Just him and 5 or 6 other dogs in a really big run with a connected, fenced yard. The manager was gushing over him when I picked him up, said he's fantastic. Maybe she just says that to all the owners... but I was happy to hear it. He was a little quieter than usual that night, thankfully. The supervisors said that about 4 hours into the day, the other dogs were trying to lie down for naps and Zeus kept waking them up to play. Poor other dogs...
Don't listen to the oldschool advice of abusing your puppy by holding a bitter apple cotton ball in its mouth, that's stupid and will only teach your puppy that you're an asshole.
Leerburg has come a long way since that kind of advice, but they're not the best at taking down the old stuff.
You got a GSD, not a mastiff. A 2-mile run per day is obviously not enough for your dog. They were bred to work all day, every day. I don't even have a working line GSD and he needs to be worked hard every 3 or 4 hours. If I don't do that, he is a very bad boy. So, take heart, work your dog more, and enjoy the peace that results.
