Hi I have got a two year old german shepherd
bitch. Three weeks before the BH trial she
reacted on the gun but stayed beside me on command. Before she never reacted. At the day of the BH trial during her long stay she
got up and ran to judge and jumped up her.
What do you recommend I do to ensure she stays. What can be the cause. Have you any articles on this subject.
Many Thanks null
From what you describe, seems like your bitch reacted to gunfire with aggression, not fear (which is a good sign). I had a similar problem with my male. He associated gunfire with a crack of a whip and ran toward it looking for action. Try it--put your bitch in platz and have someone crack the whip real loud out of her sight and see what happens. In my case a couple of sessions with an e-collar worked wonders.
When she got up and ran to the judge was she playing? if so, how have you trained her to gunfire, did you reward her every time she did what she was supposed to when the gun was fired. If you did free her and reward her she may be expecting it now whenever she hears the gun. try healing with the gun more, with no reaction from you to it, also just proof it more. You'll get her there it just takes more time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
Can anyone tell me or point me to a site about what a good reaction to a gun is? we tested a couple of dogs the other week and my bitch 9mo could not give a hoot! She gives more of a reaction when i Burp!!!
So is this good or is she too insensitive?
