Does a huge swing in the back end when walking indicate any problems like Hip displasia? Or is it just a "teenager" look?
Keiko seems to swing a lot and he is 6 months almost.
Thanks
I had my Great Dane girl Cassy's hips xray'd after noticing that same issue around 6-8 months. I spoke to an orthopedic vet about her xrays and he said they were fine, the sway is part of the growing process in large/giant breeds. The thing to watch for if there is a problem is obvious signs of pain, toes pointed in or out while walking, difficulty standing/sitting, and going to the bathroom. If it is a sudden problem then i would get him checked, but then if I think anything at all could or might remotely be an issue, I would have him checked. But that's just me, overprotective dad.
Thanks Ben, I watched extra hard today on our walk and didn't see any sign of pain or toes extremely in or out. I am thinking about getting an Xray soon but not sure yet if I should wait a little more time... Anyway nice to know this is most likely a "growing pain".
No problem. My wife thought she was walking funny too which kind of reinforced what I noticed, and sealed the deal to have them xray'd. Even now after all we went through to have them checked, she still says she walks funny. lol
