We just move in our new house a few weeks back. It is lovely dog have addapted to the house on the one new house rule.(all rules from old house applies in new house)
We now have those huge windows and the dogs can see outside a lot. Dexter, mister laid back, at first started to bark and go from window to window. I could not figue out why but just stop that behavior.
They can see birds, cats, squerals and what not now. Dexter has learn that cats are out limit (my cats). Yesterday in a wood walk he bolted off. I did not mind he has a solid recall about 200m. So I called him back but he just barked like a crazy. Harley came back at once and was back on leash.
Dexter was barking at a wild puffed up kitten. He was mentaly gone. I end up having to trow a small rock at him to stop him. I got him in the butt just right. I ran off with Harley and he folwed us.
Now I am thinking of using Harley e-collar to fix this. Dexter will shut down with a drag line and drag line in a wood is not easy. Dog keep on getting tangleup.
Dexter normaly has very low drive. He will work for food now but toys not so much and chasing a toy, he gives up after a short time.
At that moment I felt like beating the life out of him, but just crated him and went out with Harley. That same dog that had a groundhug run right under his nose this summer and did not move. He does not bark at windowor run from window to window any more since the second week in the house.
If I can find a way to bank on this new found drive in training that would be usefull
