I am between prong link sizes, and ater trying several things to try to get the medium to fit properly, I am wondering if using a small on a rottweiler would be a feasible idea? we are at the place where one link shorter is just too tight, and one link bigger is just enough to allow it to start to slide down just a little bit.The small would have the most adjustment, but is it "enough" collar? we have been doing great lately with only needing a slight nudge on the collar most of the time, but there are times, and when I need it, I need it. ANyone have any small experience?I do use the DD back-up.
A prong collar with smaller links gives more correction than one with larger links.
I use a prong with small links on my GSD. We started out with medium links, but it was either too loose or so tight that it would pinch her when I had to remove it. The small one was a much better fit.
Well that is good to know. it has been really frustrating. He has gained a couple pounds last couple months but I can't see any big change happening in neck size any time soon.
I use a small on a 85' Dutchie. It's great for the sizing, and I can give corrections with my pinky. Remember, stainless steel is going to be strong enough to hold up to A LOT of pressure, even if the gauge is only 2.25. It'll hold. Like Melissa said, it gives a much stronger correction, so go easy the first few.
I use a medium link on the adult dogs but have noticed that they don't respond nearly as well to it when there's something exciting around as when they're wearing the small. It's also a pain to keep that medium up on the neck where it belongs under the jaw.

An 85ft dutchie? Hahah that's a big dog you got there Kelly. :p So when you get a small prong, do you just buy two for the extra links? Don't think I've ever come across any stores around here that just sell the links.
