I have been watching the ME Tug videos to try and inspire more focused drive in Dieks. In doing so I decided to apply the techniques to the ball, which is Hazard's favorite toy (zero tug drive, has no desire to even hold one at this point) I always thought that though he was of good breeding and had performance parents, he was more of just a pet dog, with some drive, but never at competition level. After 2 weeks of trying some OB with the ball and working on drive with my non-experience, I have a boy that all but vibrates from head to toe when he sees the green rubber ball come out!
I am in shock/disbeleif that he had this potential that I have overlooked for 2 years! His downs that I have been trying to shape for years because he would hesitate, ignore and slowly flop down have become perky pops down into attention and all I had to do was stop with the steak and chicken and bounce a ball to him. I just cannot believe the difference. It's so much more cost friendly too
I love how thinking I was bettering one dog by buying the video has wound up helping me with 2. (Bella is still an unmotivated floor ornament, but that's just her lazy Golden 6 year old self At least until I find her trigger)
Just wanted to write this for anyone considering buying The Power of Playing Tug, because the principals extend much further than just learning the game of tug. The info has been priceless for the pups and I so far and I haven't even gotten the whole thing watched yet!
Awesome! I just re-watched the ME food DVD last weekend, with plans for the Tug DVD this weekend. It is supposed to rain, so it will be a good time to watch it I love them both!
