This stuff looks perfect for when my lil' Cairn goes to my in-laws to stay for a few days if we are travelling. They are perplexed by raw and I suspect that she ends up eating table scraps and sharing my FIL's dinner with him This might be a good answer.
I didn't - thank you! I have to admit I am totally out of the "commercial pet food" loop. I do keep some of the Costco grain-free on hand because Vigo does best with a little kibble at bed time, but that's about it.
Daisy (the CT) has an iron gut, but at 14 years old with arthritis, I like to keep her weight down. She gained 5 lbs (normally only weighs 20 lbs; she is a big CT) in a week two summers ago when we left her with the inlaws! They just love her
Connie, thanks for posting that link. It looks interesting and I've saved it to my favorites to spend some more time there later!
This whole thread got me thinking about FreshPet again and perhaps adding it occasionally to my rotation. I remember having a hard time finding it before, but I just looked on their website and, lo and behold, they say Kroger's carries it! (Melissa, I'm sure you have a Kroger's nearby.) I do my grocery shopping there frequently, but I don't think I've ever been down their dog food aisle.
I am using the FreshPet nugget things for tracking with my toy poodle and GSD.
I've been impressed with the weird things I've managed to teach my poodle with that stuff. It's the perfect size for treats for her (at 7 lbs, she's the tiniest dog that's ever owned me) and great for 'jackpots on the other (normal sized) dogs.
As far as the 'slime factor' in my bait bag, I use Home Depot tool belt thingees, the $.50 ones, and refrigerate the bags in between uses - I wash them as needed with OxyClean and so far, no worries with them. (Don't wash them with your work clothes, though lol)
