We are working my dog as a K9 dog/protection dog. Police K9 at John's club too.. Not sport.
I don't want a flashy dog. I've seen over 4 months of helper training work. Funny thing is the helper that worked my dog couldn't get a bite and he was a level 2 helper getting ready for his level 1. I take my dog to John's helper and I get bites RIGHT away. No going into a down no backing away ect like he did with a "real helper". My dog wanted to bite. It was play to him and he was very happy before and after the bite. He felt very uneasy at a real club with a real helper.
The way he was worked last week was great because no stress and all play was what was done. The helper was very gentle with my dog. I bet I was harder on the dog than the helper because John said don't break his ribs when I was slapping him on the side during the bite. Sometimes I get carried away because when he said that I was like AH I wasn't trying to do it that hard. The dog was digging it he growled and tugged hard on the tug attached to the helper. We've played rough his whole life and the more little side hits (i do mean little) he takes the more fired up he gets. Same thing some of the club members do to there dogs and the breeder who has fixed gambits issues. I know someone at the club that uses a bondage leather strap on his bitch malinois. She's a rocket and a very happy girl.
He's a very very happy confident dog now. He went down two slides today on his own and balls appeared out of thin air when he did it. One was a large tube slide. He jumped over a 5 foot wall after I climbed over it. Just followed me over no commands!
Mod edit: Unsubstantiated, vague, 2nd-hand rumor-mongering removed.
As for me. I spend most of my life now training or learning how to train my dog. I eat, breath and shit dog information and working my dog. I've been told to lay off a bit because I shouldn't work him Every day. I spend more time with my dog than my kids I'd say because I want him to be good for my family. I do it to make sure they will have a good dog to be around. I've had to schedule in play time for the kids because I realized what I was doing.
I'm talking to decoys about learning to decoy. There is a ton of background offline things dog wise going on that no one knows about. All good I assure you.
Things on here got so bad in July Ed told me NOT to post on here anymore. I hope we can keep it away from that kind of level and keep things very civil.
I could go on and on and on here. I'm very excited still but in a calm manner about working my dog.

Just a lady at my other club. She told me she went and really didn't like it. I don't know why, she was very miffed about talking about it. Lets please leave it at that.
I'm neutral and I shouldn't of mentioned it. My fault.
Interesting that you, who basically knows nothing about dog training, based on your posts on this board & others, would talk trash about someone so well respected in the dog world. And who has elevated dog training to a higher level of fun & success for dogs & their owners.
Yes, I am an Ellis fan & have attended several of his seminars. He is beyond terrific as a trainer & as a person! Maybe you should see first hand & take a class or seminar with him, instead of listening to others. You are capable of forming an opinion of your own, right?
Especially interesting that you would say that after getting involved with your new buddy John who trains dogs in the ancient methods of compulsion, even with puppies.
Ineteresting that you dog was not able to make it,even as a puppy, in the sport work, but now he is going to be a protection dog. Seriously?!
What amazes me the most is that you would post on a public forum that you put more time into you puppy then you do your kids. Your kids deserve a better father then that. That is just too sad for words. You need to realine your priorities.
