We had 82 of them in OK this weekend. 70 below 3.2, but the other twelve ranged up to 5.6. Lots of damage at the epicenters; roofs collapsed, walls fell in etc. The 4.7 one I felt. The dogs woke me up at 2 am; I thought they uncharacteristically needed to go out in the middle of the night. Before I could get up and put on my house shoes, I thought, "Damn, the wind sure came up all of a sudden" because the house was creaking. Then I noticed stuff on my dresser and some beads and stuff I have hanging on the mirror were rattling around. Saturday night, we had just watched OSU barely pull it out against K State when Steve and I at the same time said, "Stop that scratching!" We both thought a dog was leaning against, in his case the couch and my case, my chair, scratching vigorously. Then I saw the table in our den (which came out of a 1907 ice cream parlor - marble and wrought iron) which weighs upwards of 2 hundred pounds, was vibrating like it was sitting on a massage bed. That one was a 5.6! The ironic thing about all of it was what we watched on tv Friday night. Charlton Heston - Earthquake!
Did I hear right that there are almost 200 fracking fluid disposal wells in the immediate area?
We had an earthquake problem in north central Arkansas. Stopped the injection wells and the quakes stopped barring the occasional tiny quake. But a SHARP decline none the less.
Becky, is it bad that at the mention of an antique marble ice cream parlor table my mind completely blocked out the earthquake part
Aside from that, I hope all is well and little to damage occured for you and yours. Do you have any idea how widespread the damage is? I think the AQHA World Show is going on this week there. I cannot imagine the chaos that probably went on there. Large grain rations, performance horses and earthquakes Oh My!
I haven't heard about anything but I'll bet there are lots of vets making sure their colic supplies are well-stocked up! We haven't had any damage that we can see, other than a small crack in the sheetrock in the den. Some people had it waaaaay worse and of course NOBODY has earthquake insurance around here. What worries me is septic tank/line damage, and I don't guess we'd find out about that until things started to get wet. Which we won't notice for a while because it's raining a gully-washer right now!
Here are some cool radar images and some damage pics. So many birds and bugs took flight at the moment of the quake that they actually showed up on radar!

Yup. Eighty-two. The dogs got antsy and woke me before the first one; the others didn't seem to phase them except a few that barked....afterwards, as if to say, WTH was that?!
