Drift has always been very in tune to her environment and will react to the slightest changes. This really took me by surprise, though.
The way she sat by both of them after we discovered low sugar levels was pretty awesome too. She wouldn't leave them - even when my neighbor's dog tried to get her to play.
Needless to say, my neighbor says she can come over any time she wants to
Life with Drift is never boring. She is constantly amazing me.
It's this level of sensitivity that has me thinking twice and even ten times before I ever consider any type of physical or even verbal correction these days. They truly are amazing animals that try so hard to communicate with us.
And kudos to you for noticing that the whiney, jumping behavior was out of character for her and much more than its outward appearance. There are always reasons for their actions; understanding what they're telling us sometimes is the difficult part.
It sounds like you and Drift have an incredible relationship.
My girl Cassy had a funny experience the other day as well. A bottle of water was sitting on a stand in the living room area of my house, and accidently spilled onto a power strip that was plugged in. It started to sizzle and get really hot, nobody noticed it until Cassy ran over and started to look at it funny with her ears perked up, and started sniffing the air around it.
Needless to say, we took care of it and Cassy had steak for supper.
This is AMAZING Kelly, but not surprising, considering it is Drifty we are talking about.
Do you by ANY chance know of any physicians in your area who are "open" to therapy dogs, etc??? It would be very interesting to set up some type of documentable situation...
As always, any Drift news brings "warm-fuzzies" to all of us.
