Today in the UK we observed a minutes silence in respect of the men and women who fought and died in the two world wars, so to them and to your service smen who died long side them, we thank you.
To quote Robert Laurence Binyon
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them"
Yes, today is Veteran's Day in the US. My calendar tell me it's called Remembrance Day in Canada and the UK. It's a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to all the men and women, from the US and all of our friends and allies around the world, who have fought for freedom and in many cases, made the ultimate sacrifice. You are not forgotten!
And that is what makes the men and women who have seved even more dear to us. The fact that the thanks is not required (though IMO, it should be given more often than the once or twice a year it is nationally recognised) We are so very lucky for people such as you.
