Colleen Morrison Webboard User Reg: 10-17-2002 Posts: 70 Loc: Offline	I am aware that this is largely a US board, but was wondering if you may assist me in exactly what I am to look for in a club. I went out to one in late fall and they accepted me and my dog. Did the gun test etc.... I have heard that this club has titled many dogs, but has also ruined some. The OTHER club takes the dog away and you the owner must allow this. I want to be very careful in choosing the right club, but it appears I do not have much to choose from. What is the norm and what is not? Thanks.

Too many bad things can happen. If they can't evaluate the dog's general temperment, drives, and trainablity with you there, something is up.

I don't understand this either. I have just had this posted to me from a reputable trainer here in Winnipeg. From what I observed for many years the club is male oriented. I also believe no dog should be doing bite work until they are obedience trained. Even though I enjoy an occasional drink I would never think it was in good sense to do schutzhund work and drink at the same time.JMO

Now as for the drinking and training, well...German clubs drink and train just fine! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

She and her significant other, Eric Luke train out of the Winnipeg Working Dog Club. My acquaintance with her is some years old, although I have caught up on the phone from time to time. Both she and Eric are with the Winnipeg Police Dept. He is current canine, Liz former canine. (They have to rotate out). She is a very active and passionate Schutzhund competitor. (She has been to the Worlds three times, I believe.) I have not trained with the club and can't say what they do or don't do, but I would highly recommend Liz as a very knowledgeable and fine person who I am sure would be helpful to you. If you don't have her contact information, you could pm me, and I will get it. (I'm at the office at the moment.) All the best.
