The video of the Beagle trepidly coming out of it's crate and stepping on the grass for the first time - yeah, tears.
I am torn, however. While I am glad there are projects like this out there, I wish we could save dogs in our own country - these Beagles were from Spain, no?
I just heard of another young female Malinois PTS in a shelter in TX, the Mal rescue community was unable to save her because they have no foster homes in TX. These are the things that really tear my heart out... perfectly good dogs dying for NO REASON.

Ok, off my soapbox...

I agree. While I am so happy for these dog, our country uses beagles for almost all its studies as well. From drug test to vet tech schools.... Wish we could save them all.
Yea well I guess everybody has there own cause. I know a woman who saved her dog from vet school. Apparently they used to break and rebreak things onthe vet school dogs. I don't know if they still do I think she bacame a vet in the mid eighties. So many causes so little time. I try to focus locally myself with rescue tranports from Gary. But I do a lot of crosspostings on facebook, mostly bully rescues. There are equally sad stories of good dogs being PTS. The problem mainly seems to be lack of foster homes. The stepping onto the grass was the tear jerker moment for me as well. Maybe US won't release the beagles. We do love our dirty secrets here. Wouldn't want that to be on TV. Spain releases whilst the US keeps tortuing in the name of science. Politics
