Keiko has a cat chasing problem which I am sure would apply to chickens and other small animals. He has been around cats since I got him but he has major interest in trying to catch them. He has not had the opportunity but once or twice when he pulled hard and got away from me. However this is a problem as in Guatemala there are tons of chickens and other small animals.
If anyone has any suggestions on things that might help curb this desire it would be helpful.
With farm dogs, not leashed hardly ever, it helps if there are some things a dog CAN chase. Squirrels, bunnies can be chased. Coon can be treed. Wild birds can be flushed.
Chickens and cats cannot be chased.
I correct for looking at cats/poultry in a predatory way.
He doesn't look like he wants to eat them just thinks they are fun to mess with and chase. He is almost never lose. Would you correct for looking at them at all?
